Refunds and credits

Clear guidance on when refunds or credits may apply.

Quick Answer

Membership payments are made in advance and are non-refundable. ZKS does not issue refunds for classes missed because of holidays, sickness, non-attendance or other personal reasons.

Message through Members Area

Membership payments

Membership is priced annually and split into 12 equal monthly Direct Debit instalments. Payments therefore continue through scheduled school-holiday closures and keep the student’s regular class place reserved.

If you believe there has been a duplicate charge or account error, message ZKS through the Members Area so the payment can be checked. Do not assume that a refund or credit has been agreed until ZKS confirms it.

Important: Cancelling a Direct Debit directly with the bank does not remove any outstanding notice period or unpaid invoice.

Missed classes and holidays

Missed classes are not refunded. Where available, members can use the temporary class change option in the Members Area to attend another suitable class.

  1. Log in to the Members Area.
  2. Select the student profile.
  3. Use the temporary class change option where available.
  4. Choose a suitable class within the available date window.

Events, camps and spectator bookings

Event refunds depend on the event terms, booking deadline, staffing, venue commitments and whether the place can reasonably be reallocated.

For camps, competitions, belt promotion events and spectator bookings, please check the event information page or booking confirmation before requesting a refund.

Shop orders, uniforms and belts

Refunds for shop items depend on whether the item has already been ordered, prepared, personalised, issued or used.

Belt orders are linked to grading records and belt promotion preparation. If a belt or uniform issue needs checking, message us with the student name and the item ordered.

How to request a refund or credit

  1. Log in to the Members Area.
  2. Send a message from the relevant student account.
  3. Include the payment, item or event you are asking about.
  4. Explain clearly what has happened.
  5. Wait for ZKS to confirm whether a refund or credit has been agreed.

Please avoid sending refund requests through multiple channels, as this can slow down the account check.

Refund or credit?

The Payment Policy does not create an automatic right to either. If ZKS confirms an account correction, it will explain how and when that correction will be applied. Adjustments recorded before the 17th normally affect the next Direct Debit; those recorded later move to the following payment cycle.

Read the full ZKS Payment Policy (PDF). Separate event and shop terms apply to those purchases.
