We are now heading into the busiest few weeks of the ZKS year, with catch-up assessments, belt promotions, the summer competition, summer camp and our end-of-term closure all coming up.

Update

Mini Assessments Now Closed

Bookings for this year's Mini Assessments have now closed.

If your child was unable to attend their Summer Mini Assessment due to illness or injury and you informed us at the time, we will review their eligibility and send an invitation to the Catch-Up Mini Assessment where appropriate.

Please keep an eye on your emails and Members Area messages if you believe this applies to your child.

Terminology update: from August 2026, Mini Assessments are called Progress Reviews. This July newsletter keeps the name that was in use when these bookings took place.

If you ordered a belt, please use the search page to check when and where we expect to present it. Search using your child’s name.

Some members may have missed the belt promotion process. We will review this and contact affected families once we know what options are available.

Summer Competition

For members already booked into the summer competition.

Before the day, please check:

  • Your child’s competition group and time
  • Where the competition is taking place
  • What your child needs to bring
  • Any spectator or arrival information
Waiting list update

I have now completed the review of all competition groups, made every adjustment possible and contacted the relevant families. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any additional places from the competition waiting list this year.

Mini Assessment Catch-Up

Students who have missed one or more required Mini Assessments may be invited to attend the Final Catch-Up Mini Assessment on Saturday 4th July.

Final catch-up: Saturday 4 July

We will review all members and send invitations to those who are eligible and still require a catch-up assessment.

Please note: If your child does not complete all of their required Mini Assessments, they will not be eligible to:

  • Receive their next belt during the July Belt Promotion, or
  • Take part in the Summer Competition, where Mini Assessment eligibility is required.

If a child is no longer eligible after missing the required assessment, we may need to cancel their Belt Promotion or Summer Competition booking. Where appropriate, we will either issue a refund or provide a promo code for a future event.

Please keep an eye on your emails and Members Area messages over the coming days if you believe your child may require a catch-up assessment.

Summer Camp

Running from 27–31 July at ZKS Aylesbury HQ.

Limited spaces remaining

Summer Camp is a great way for students to stay active over the summer break with martial arts, games, challenges and team activities.

  • Dates: Monday 27 July to Friday 31 July
  • Location: ZKS Martial Arts HQ, Aylesbury
  • Who can attend: Mini Ninjas and Junior Martial Arts members
  • Booking options: Full week or individual days, subject to availability

What to expect

Each day will include a mixture of martial arts training, games, fitness activities and team challenges. The camp is designed to keep children active, build confidence and give them something positive to focus on during the summer holidays.

Activities

Martial arts, games, pad work, team challenges and fitness-based activities.

What to wear

ZKS uniform, ZKS T-shirt or suitable sports clothing. Trainers are recommended.

What to bring

A packed lunch, plenty of drinks, snacks and any medication your child may require.

Important note

Summer Camp is not available for Teen Martial Arts members or students in Year 9 and above.

Thank you for your support as we move into the final part of the academic year. This is always one of the busiest times for the club, with assessments, belt promotions, competitions and summer activities all happening close together.

Please take a few minutes to check the dates and links above, especially if your child is involved in belt promotions or the summer competition.
